WAF works to provide microcredit loans to entrepreneurs
Our Approach

In many parts of the developing world, microfinance has already been recognized as an effective tool of social mobilization and poverty alleviation.

Drawing upon the proven microcredit peer group lending model known as “village banking,” WAF will provide assistance to support the formation, training and nurturing of its clients. Our organization takes a patient, yet time-bound approach to providing access to initial loans without collateral, allowing members of peer groups the opportunity to co-guarantee loan repayment and assume management of the revolving fund. The order of activities will be as follows:

WAF partner EPID-Kenya conducts basic business and accounting training. Potential clients form into peer groups; criteria for selection includes completed training, HIV testing and counseling and an approved business plan. Peer groups establish goals, set priorities and establish ground rules. Initial loans are provided.
“All people are entrepreneurs; hard work and creativity are basic human traits.”
